Interesting discussion at yesterday's ScotlandIS networking lunch around the opportunities offered by the new generation of ecommerce, and also the challenges. Apparently last year UK businesses transacted £130 billion in online sales. Some companies have transformed their business models with month on month growth rates of 10% and more. However much of this business is centred in London both in terms of the companies transacting the business and the web developers creating the sites.
Lots of Scottish web businesses build workman-like attractive web sites but most of them are not supporting high volumes of on-line business - so how do we lift our game ?
